Yamaha YZF R1 & R6

Welcome to Motorcycle Blue Book.

You gotta love the Yamaha R1 and R6. I can’t believe that it’s about 10 years ago that the Yamaha R1 took the world by storm. These things are wheelie monsters. The kids were buying these things up like candy at the candy store.

  • Light, powerful and packed with trickle-down MotoGP technology, the YZF-R1 is the most advanced Open-class production motorcycle ever built.

    • The YZF-R1 uses the YCC-T fly-by-wire throttle system for flawless response under all conditions.

    • Inline four-cylinder engine is the most powerful, tractable R1 powerplant ever, thanks partially to the world’s first electronic variable-length intake funnel system.

    • Slipper-type back torque-limiting clutch greatly facilitates braking/downshifting from high speed.

    • Aluminum Deltabox frame and swingarm take Open-class handling to the next performance level.

    • Six-piston radial-mount front brake calipers and 310mm discs

All stock and you were the coolest, fastest kid on the block.

    Have fun out driving.

    1. Been riding my R6 since 2000 and it’s been rock solid. I’ve banged the limiter more times than I can remember and riding at 145MPH felt pretty stable..although the vibration at that speed is kinda crazy.

I’m sure with some modifications with the suspension, the ride at that speed would be acceptable…that is if that’s your thing :)

Overall, love the bike and have more than one!
